Quackers' best friends

Image may contain: food

Oh, Quackers, your best friends from the freezer can't be Ben and Jerry! They're my best friends from the freezer!
I hope everyone is staying cool this summer and checking out awesome sights, like the actual headquarters of Ben and Jerry in Waterbury, Vermont! While up there you can check out the factory, retired flavors and try a new flavor!

Introduction

Hello!

Welcome to the Just Ducky Classroom!

My name is Miss S. and I am an elementary education teacher in Connecticut. The focus of this blog is to share some classroom techniques that I have picked up in every classroom over the past few years, some insights on interviews and outfit planning, as well as a very large (think global) geography project!

The star of the show on this blog is Quackers, a beanie baby duck born in April of 1994. He became a part of my personal duck collection in the fall of 2015 and became an instant hit in the classroom. Quackers began to cause some mischief in the classroom, hiding classroom tools, flipping the calendar dates and so on. At one point he had enough of the cold Connecticut weather and was invited to Florida for a vacation! And thus, the adventures of Quackers began! With the help of some friends that are living across the country and other friends that live abroad, Quackers began to visit other countries and teach my students about geography, letter writing and interactions across the globe. Here is a collection of his adventures, student interactions and tales of his silliness.

Thank you for checking in!

Germany

"Hallo!
I'm in Germany today! Meet my friend, Ente! He showed me around and you would not believe how beautiful this country is!
Have a wonderful weekend!" (Original Post May 24th, 2018)

Fun fact:
Hello = Hallo
Duck = Ente

The students could not believe that Ente the duck was so tiny! I'm so fortunate to have friends all around the world that are able to send me so many wonderful things for this project! Shout out to my friend in Germany for sending me this postcard!

Edit in 2018: We had a second friend go to Germany and she sent us a new picture back of multiple ducks! Who thinks that Quackers should have one of those costumes?

Who Let Him Drive?

To escape the possible tornado that was coming to Connecticut, Quackers 'flew' to Hawaii! He was spotted driving a truck to Waikiki, but the bigger question is... who let him drive?

Boston, MA

On the road again....

Quincy is looking over Boston Harbor!

Quincy Market! Bring on the chowder!

May way for Ducklings!

Hey, we know this book!

Quackers and his friends finally made it to Boston where they were able to visit a statue of their favorite book "Make Way for Ducklings!" There was even a store that the ducklings checked out, though they already own two copies!

The science museum is a fantastic place to go for kids (and big kids too), and every year there is a new exhibit that is amazing to check out! While up in Boston, ducklings should also check out Quincy Market (Where National Treasure was filmed too!) and other historal places!

Happy Travels!

Kent Falls, CT Day 2

Waterfall!!

Another covered bridge! CT is full of them!

We need a map so we can go hiking!

Hello Friends! This is our little water loving friend who discovered Kent Fall, CT! Unfortunetly, it was a bit cold to actually go down the waterfall this day, BUT we hope to have another adventure when it is a bit warmer! This is a lovely place to have a picnic, and we hope to go back another day for a dip and picnic!

Happy Trails!
